If you are one of the people that think all retirement communities are about the same, you have another thing coming. There is truly a dizzying array of choices that await you. There are communities that have no age restriction - and those that do.  There are enormous active adult communities with hundreds of activities and clubs - and those that don't even have a clubhouse. Some focus on sports, while others are based on affinity groups like artists. There are urban, suburban, and rural choices.  Cooperative and and very independent communities. In this article we explore some of your choices, along with pros and cons and links to sample communities.
 
 
A Little Bit of Good News in Real Estate
We came across one of the few positive signs for the real estate market we have seen in the last few years. In a Wall Street Journal article, "Housing Takes Baby Steps", it appears that the overhanging inventory of unsold homes is declining - from over 11 months supply to about 8.4. It also appears that the "shadow inventory" of homes for sale, those that are about to come on the market, is also down.
